A status item for your iTunes
Along with CoverFlow, which is now integrated in iTunes, GimmeSomeTune may be the ultimate complement to iTunes. This program automatically shows album covers and track lyrics for your songs playing in iTunes. However, what users will be most impressed with first is the sleek interface. The dark grey window pops up discreetly to let you know what song is playing, revealing essential information like track name, length and rating. Lyrics appear in a similar dark grey pop up window, which you can browse thanks to a sidebar.
Not only does GimmeSomeTune work with iTunes, it also supports Last.fm. Everything can be controlled via hotkeys (even iTunes and ratings), which you can fully configure and iTunes can be set up to work using only your mouse. Delving into the preferences lets you customize more sections of GimmeSomeTune. The application can automatically fetch album covers from the sites you select and you can set it up to work with the Mac remote control.
We were a bit taken aback by the fact that you can't resize the GimmeSomeTune info window, but you can style change the fonts and text color. We also found it a bit unclear as to how GimmeSomeTune could be uninstalled.
Overall, GimmeSomeTune is an excellent application to have if you love seeing album covers and lyrics for your songs.
